THE CUBISCAN AND SPS SUCCESS
According to Dan Malone, Distribution General Manager at SPS, the company currently has approximately 16,000 SKUs, and ships 1,000 boxes every day out of the Atlanta warehouse alone. The Atlanta DC receives 500 boxes daily. After Malone had the opportunity to witness the advanced cubing and weighing system in action and observed its superiority to the manual process currently being used by SPS, the company brought in the Cubiscan 100, a sophisticated dimensioning system from Quantronix.
Currently lacking a WMS, SPS was looking for a way to effectively weigh and measure all products prior to the implementation of a WMS. Housed within SPS’s Alpharetta DC, the Cubiscan cubing system is used to collect accurate weight and dimensions. The collected data is currently stored in SPS’s legacy system; eventually, it will be seamlessly exported to the WMS thanks to the power of Cubiscan.
REAPING THE BENEFITS OF ACCURATE DIMENSIONS
Prior to integrating the Cubiscan 100 from Quantronix into its dimensioning processes, SPS did not have access to an optimized method for weighing and measuring. This resulted in wasted time, human error, and compromised data integrity. The Cubiscan cubing system eliminates these issues and yields data that is safe, streamlined, and reliable.
Since consolidating the dimensioning process with the Cubiscan, SPS aspires toward significant advancements in consistency and accuracy. SPS joins leading companies, such as Decker’s Outdoor, MultiAd, Trommer & Associates, UBD and the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, in utilizing Cubiscan’s powerful technology from Quantronix.
A BRIGHT FUTURE WITH CUBISCAN
As SPS continues to build on its tradition of offering distribution solutions for the orthotics and prosthetics industry, the Cubiscan 100 cubing system promises to be a valuable partner through the next 50 years and beyond. State-of-the-art sensing technologies promise to help keep the company on the cutting edge of the O&P industry thanks to better data collection, improved consistency, and overall optimized operations through one extraordinary cubing system.
