Cubiscan 200TS | Power Supply Failure

A Power Supply failure may exhibit similar errors to PCB or Communication Failures.

A Cubiscan 200TS machine contains 3 power supply units.   The failure of one or more of these power supplies can cause different symptoms to appear.  Always ensure that the Main Power to the machine is Off before changing out parts in the machine.  High voltage is present on the inputs of the Power Supplies.  110 VAC or 208~240 VAC may be present.

The Console contains one smaller sized power supply inside that powers all the touchscreen display components, and the processor boards in the Console.  A power supply failure in this unit will either result in no display function at all, a flashing white screen as the power supply cycles on and off due to failure,  or perhaps other odd behaviors where things just don't work or boot properly.

One larger sized power supply unit is located right above the Conveyor Mother PCB board, and so far has been the most common failure.  This unit powers the majority of the sensors both along the conveyor edges, and the sensor gate arrays through the main Motherboard.  One smaller power supply is also located in the vicinity, just to the right of the main power supply unit.  CS200-TS Side Panel Power Supplies-jpg

Symptoms that may help indicate that the power supply is failing would be that the High Voltage power switch/Contactor switch in the machine is making a noticeable clicking sound over and over again as the power supply tries to start up, but then shuts down repeatedly.

You may also see flashing red lights in the photo eye holes along the edge of the conveyors as the power goes on and off repeatedly.   There may also be no lights at all from the photo eyes if the machine power is verified to be on, but the Low Voltage power supply in the machine has failed completely.

Another symptom that may be seen is the "Console <=> Conveyor Disconnect" error is displayed because the Conveyor circuit boards are not able to boot up and communicate properly with the Console/Touchscreen unit.

If available it is a good idea to take the power supplies along on repair visits, especially on older machine repairs.  This will often result in a much faster resolution to the problem if they are indeed bad.  It is absolutely worth the trouble taking them along!
