Zebra ZE500 Print Engine Troubleshooting & Maintenance

The Zebra ZE500 is employed in most Cubiscan Integration projects where a print and apply machine is in use.  The ZE500 has been replaced with the ZE511 Print Engine from Zebra since about mid to late 2023.  This article contains links to online troubleshooting guides, walk through videos, and how to information.

ZE500 Print Head  (Cubiscan Part Number 14562)

This is the #1 wear and tear item on a Print Engine.  The print pins eventually wear out and leave white lines in the label.  If these blank lines cut through barcodes printed on the label, it will cause ship label barcode scans to fail.  A print head is generally good for 1.5 to 3 million inches of label printing as long as it is regularly cleaned and used properly under normal conditions.
